National Court president's daughter strikes King Pie gold
With all the worries that come with the first month of the year, a jobseeker was shocked to hear that she had won E10 000 from King Pie yesterday.
Sibusisiwe Dlamini (25) of Ludzidzini took some time to get to the Bhunu Mall King Pie branch along Louw Street. The staff waited patiently to see the winner of the Supreme Meal Deal Competition.
She said she was not sure of the branch the presentation was supposed to take place since she uses both mall branches according to her fancy.Owner
The competition, which ran from the beginning of October last year and ended last Thursday had over 3 000 entries but only one was chosen as a winner.
King Pie owner and Managing Director Mike Pennington said he was aware how the month of January was a financial anti-climax for most of his clientele hence he felt the need to give something back.
“At this time of the year, people are worried about school fees and are trying to recover financially after the festive season,” he said.
He acknowledged the loyalty of the nation to the franchise in its 17 years of existence within the country. The excited Dlamini, who came to the outlet with her father, Manzini National Court President Ndumiso Dlamini, said she was at first skeptical about the win when she was called.
“I was very wary at first as I am aware that there are scammers who lure you with all types of stories,” she said.
She explained that the amount was pleasingly overwhelming hence her reason to request that her father accompany her.
“I am already confused, so his level headedness will help me to use the money correctly,” she said as soon as she was awarded the money. She said since her win was God-sent she would also pay her tithes as a way of honouring the Almighty.
She said her favourite pie which won her the prize was the Russian roll which she bought with chips and cool drink on December 12
